Ordering with TAC

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) pays for reasonable treatment and equipment for people injured in a transport accident in Victoria. Equipment is usually requested by your treating OT or health professional and approved by the TAC before it is supplied.

How it works

  1. 1.Your health professional requests itYour OT or treating clinician recommends the equipment. They, or you, send us the recommendation with your TAC claim number.
  2. 2.We quote for TAC approvalWe prepare a formal quote that matches the recommendation, ready to go to the TAC.
  3. 3.Supply once approvedWhen the TAC approves the request, we deliver, set up and show you how to use the equipment.

Who we invoice

Approved by the TAC
We invoice the TAC against your claim number and approval. Nothing is charged to you for approved items.
Not approved, or extras
If something is not approved, or you want an upgrade, we quote you privately first and only supply it if you agree.

Questions

Do I need a claim number?

Yes. Please include your TAC claim number and the name of your OT or case manager when you contact us.

Can I try the equipment first?

Selected equipment can be trialled at home or in our Melbourne showroom, so your OT can confirm it is right before the TAC is asked to pay.

How long does approval take?

That depends on the TAC. We send the quote as soon as we have the recommendation, and we keep you and your OT updated.

Eligibility and approval are decided by the scheme, not by Joy Ours. For the scheme’s own rules see tac.vic.gov.au .
